Here is a unicorn birthday cake. It is a 14" round strawberry cake, covered in while fondant. The unicorn and flowers are fondant, and the pink border is modeling chocolate.
This cake was made to celebrate 3 birthdays. It was 3 layers, one vanilla, one red velvet, and one coconut. The fillings were bavarian cream and strawberry filling between the layers. The cake was forsted in buttercream, slivered almonds put around the sides and white chocolate chips covered the top. Fresh sliced fresh strawberries and kiwi decorated the top.
My future Daughter-in-law, Gretta, loves owls. Hence, the owl cake. Square cake was covered in fondant. A tree limbs went up the side of the cake, and small leaves in orange and yellow were placed on the limbs. Larger leaves were placed on top and a small owl was made of rice krispy treats, covered in fondant, was placed in the middle.
My Granddaughter, Amanda, is a hugh Star Wars fan. For her 17th birthday, I decided to surprise her with a Yoda cake. The the body was made with a round cake pan base and then the top portion of the body was baked in a stainless steel bowl. The head was formed with rice krispy treats and then covered with fondant.
My Granddaughter turned 10 (double digits!) I can't believe it! She was having a sleep over party and orginally I was to make a "sleep over" cake. Unfortunately, I came down with the flu and was unable to make it. When I got better, we had a girl's day and took her to see "Tangled". That evening we had a small family party and I made her a Tangled/Rapunzell cake. It was a triple layer strawberry cake with strawberry filling covered in fondant and decorations were made out of modeling chocolate. Yummy!
